NBA Executive Thinks That If The Sixers Explore A Trade, Joel Embiid Is More Likely To Be Moved Than Ben Simmons

The Philadelphia 76ers aren’t having the best moment in this NBA season and rumors see the light every day about what could happen to the team in the future. Some of them involve Brett Brown and his continuity with the team, while others focus on their two biggest stars, Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.

ESPN’s Tim Bontemps has broken down what could have happened with the Sixers in the case they can’t ‘make it work’ this season.

What league insiders expect: Most don’t expect Brown to be retained if Philly loses early in the playoffs. But would they actually break up the Simmons-Embiid duo?

There is no consensus, but league execs think that if the Sixers do explore a trade, Embiid is more likely to be moved — health being the determining factor in building around Simmons. One exec added that a big trade featuring Simmons or Embiid might be the only way to reshape the team.

“If they tried to move [Tobias Harris or Al Horford], I don’t think they’d get value in return,” a league executive said. “They’d ask to be incentivized. Whereas if they move Ben or Joel, they’ll get a lot more.”

Despite having won some important games, the general belief is that Philly is going through a mini-crisis and this offseason could be one with major changes for the organization.

We still need to wait and see what they’re going to do, but rumors about Embiid leaving the franchise get bigger by the day.
