Lou Williams: ‘This Is A Laker Town. That’s Perfectly Fine With Us. We Prefer It For The Odds To Go Against Us.’

It looks like we’ll have to live a thousand years before Los Angeles stops being a Lakers town. No matter how bad they are or how good the Clippers are, this city will always be Purple and Gold.

However, that doesn’t seem to bother Clippers players, especially Lou Williams, who has revealed he’s ‘perfectly fine’ with that fact:

“This is a Laker town,” Williams said, via SLAM Magazine. “There ain’t no confusion about that. That’s perfectly fine with us. We prefer it for the odds to go against us. I think that brings the best out of us. I think that’s just the difference [between] playing for the Clippers and the Lakers. So much is expected of the Lakers from the beginning and it’s, like, surprising if we do something.”

For the first time in history, both Clippers and Lakers are title contenders in the same campaign, so it’s not a shock if this almost non-existent rivalry has taken to different levels. Williams has reasons not to be worried about the odds going against the Clips, as they have won both games against the Lakers this season, with Kawhi Leonard thoroughly outplaying LeBron James.

The Klaw is averaging 32.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists when facing the Lakers while shooting 55.3 percent from the field, 50.0 percent from beyond the arc and 94.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lakers have the best record in the West right now, and the Clippers are trying to catch them at the top of the standings. Only time will tell if these two will clash in the Western Conference Finals, a matchup that every basketball fan wants to see this year.
