Steve Kerr On Luka Doncic: “He’s Got This Incredible Knack For Seeing The Floor And Being A Step Ahead. He Reminds Me A Little Bit Of Larry Bird In That Regard.”

2 Min Read

While not everyone is sold on the performance of Luka Doncic this season, even the staunchest of critics have to admit the dude is a special talent.

As the comparisons continue to roll in, Steve Kerr recently offered up his own analysis of the second-year guard, going so far as to draw him in the same breath as Larry Bird.

“He’s got this incredible knack for seeing the floor and being a step ahead. He reminds me a little bit of Larry Bird in that regard. He’s kind of one step ahead in the chess match. But he’s got this James Harden skill set with crossovers and stepbacks.”

Kerr is speaking from personal experience here. Fresh off a loss to Luka and his Mavericks, Kerr witnessed his dominance first-hand, as he dropped 20 points and 8 rebounds.

This season, in just his second as a pro, Doncic is putting up historic numbers. He’s scoring 28.9 points on 46% shooting to go along with 9.6 rebounds 8.8 assists per game. He’s doing it all.

While it may be a bit early to bring his name next to that of Larry’s, that type of comparison isn’t a long ways off if he continues at this pace.
