4 Moves The Los Angeles Lakers Should Avoid This Summer

The Los Angeles Lakers are in everybody’s mouth’s nowadays, but not for great reasons, as Magic Johnson really exposed how much of a mess this organization has turned into since Jerry Buss passed away.

  • 4. Sign Lance Stephenson
  • 3. Sign Carmelo Anthony
  • 2. Trade For Kevin Love
  • 1. Trade For Chris Paul

The Lakers need a lot of help in free agency if they want to go back to their golden years, but with the dysfunctional nature of the organization, they’re not likely to lure a top-tier free agent in the summer.

Obviously, that could drive the team towards desperation and they may be tricked and hurried into making some bad decisions in the summer by trading for an old star or overpaying a lesser player. That’s why today, we’re going to let you know about the 4 moves the Lakers should definitely avoid this summer.

4. Sign Lance Stephenson

Lance Stephenson

Lance Stephenson hasn’t been able to live up to his salary since his first stint with the Indiana Pacers. He’s a troublemaker, and just doesn’t take his job seriously enough, and the Lakers just don’t need a player like him anymore.

Stephenson is not likely to have many offers sitting on his table next season, and while he built a nice rapport with LeBron James, they shouldn’t be tricked into offering him even a one-year deal. Don’t make the same mistake twice.

3. Sign Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony is one of LeBron’s favorite guys in the world, and, according to several rumors, he was actually pushing the team towards signing him when they were still in playoff contention.

Yet, Anthony hasn’t played any competitive basketball in months, he’s old, and has been a major liability for the last couple of seasons. He deserves a proper farewell, and he won’t get that with the Lakers.

2. Trade For Kevin Love

The Cleveland Cavaliers are going to try and move on from Kevin Love this season, as they didn’t land a top 3 pick in this upcoming Draft and don’t have enough talent in their roster to compete right away.

However, parting ways with the 4th overall pick in order to get an injury-prone player like Love would be a huge mistake by this team, even if he’s got a strong relationship with LeBron James from his second stint with the Cavaliers.

1. Trade For Chris Paul

Chris Paul is one of LeBron James’ closest friends, but they shouldn’t pursue him on a trade. Paul really underperformed in the playoffs this season and he hasn’t been truly healthy in years, let alone the fact that he’s already 34 years old.

Paul’s also set to make 38, 41, and 44 years over the next three years, and this team was trying to get under the salary cap. Absorbing Paul’s massive deal would be a huge mistake for them going forward.
