5 NBA Free Agents The Chicago Bulls Should Avoid This Summer

The Chicago Bulls are stuck in basketball hell right now. Following a terrible season, they still only got the 7th overall pick on a Draft that’s not exactly loaded with talent while the first 3 top prospects are gone.

Contents
  • 5. DeAndre Jordan
  • 4. Marc Gasol
  • 3. JJ Redick
  • 2. Tobias Harris
  • 1. Terry Rozier

This team has managed to put together a nice young core of Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter Jr, Zach LaVine, Otto Porter Jr and even Kris Dunn, but there’s a huge need of a superstar and an improvement at the point guard spot.

Chicago can’t offer much money in the summer but they can choose wisely who to pursue, as they only have enough cap space to make a run at one top-tier free agent. There are a lot of guys that are set to be available, but, for God’s sake, they should avoid making a run at these 5 free agents if they want to compete any time soon:

5. DeAndre Jordan

Los Angeles Lakers Looking To Add Center, But Knicks Say It Won’t Be DeAndre Jordan

DeAndre Jordan wasn’t nearly half as productive last year as he was throughout his entire career with the Los Angeles Clippers, so they should avoid signing him for big money in the summer.

Moreover, with Wendell Carter Jr set to make his comeback with the team, there’s absolutely no reason why to sign a guy like Jordan that would just take minutes away from one of the most promising big men in the league.

4. Marc Gasol

Same as Jordan, there’s not an actual need for the Chicago Bulls to make a run at Marc Gasol, considering they have Wendell Carter Jr and also Lauri Markkanen locked in as their frontcourt for the future.

Gasol has been outstanding with the Toronto Raptors and he’s likely to give up a lot of money in the summer in order to make a run at a Championship, so the Bulls aren’t going to be much of an attractive destination for him anyway.

3. JJ Redick

JJ Redick wants to come back to the Philadelphia 76ers, but assuming they don’t want him back, he’s going to have a lot of offers sitting on his table as one of the best sharpshooters in the world.

However, with Zach LaVine in town, the Bulls shouldn’t hire a guy to compete for his starting spot with him, and Redick is not going to come off the bench for this team. So thanks, but no thanks.

2. Tobias Harris

Tobias Harris was incredibly productive all year long and was a borderline All-Star. He’s definitely earned a huge contract for next season, but he’ll likely favor a contending team unless they pay him a lot of money.

However, with Lauri Markkanen, Zach LaVine and Otto Porter Jr in the team, it feels as if there’s not a true need for Harris, whose sharpshooting skills aren’t going to fix Chicago’s offensive woes.

1. Terry Rozier

The Bulls are reportedly interested in Terry Rozier, who’s bound to leave the Boston Celtics as a restricted free agent. He’s a fearless player and deserves a bigger role, but his terrible shot selection is going to drive Jim Boylen crazy.

Moreover, Rozier is going to ask for a lot of money next season and while he may be worthy of it, he’s yet to prove it. The Bulls just can’t afford to take such a risk on him right now, especially considering there’s a chance Dunn still comes together.
