There’s still some time ahead before the start of the NBA’s 2018-19 regular season, and we, just like you, can’t wait to see how a new campaign unveils and all the surprises it may bring along for us.

This being a slow time of the year for us hoop fans, we got nothing much to see but media and fans starting and spreading rumors about the things they think or hope may wind up happening next year.

Obviously, this creates a lot of hype and expectations, but more often than not, those rumors wind up being mere flukes. Today, we’re going to let you know about the 10 things that will definitely not happen next season.

10. Ben Simmons Will Not Win Rookie of the Year

In case you were wondering, we can definitely guarantee you that Ben Simmons will not, indeed, be eligible for taking the Rookie of the Year award home. Nor will Markelle Fultz, so that’s a bummer, Philly.

9. Russell Westbrook Will Not Average a Triple Double

C’mon, Brodie, it’s been two years in a row now. It’s time to call it quits and let Steven Adams get a board or two. If the Thunder want to be considered a legit threat, Westbrook will have to play for the team and not for himself.

8. Kyrie Irving Will Not be Traded

Kyrie Irving is supposedly eager to join forces with Jimmy Butler and didn’t want to commit with the Celtics for the long-term future, at least for the time being. Even so, Danny Ainge would rather walk him walk away for free than trading him next season.

7. Carmelo Anthony Will Not Come Off the Bench

He’s addressed this situation over and over. It’s just not going to happen, it doesn’t matter how much he can hurt his team, he’s never going to do it. At this point, he’d rather fake an injury or retire before coming off the bench. Good luck with that, Rockets fans.

6. Damian Lillard Will Not Request a Trade

Regardless of all of the rumors, RIP City fans can go to sleep knowing that his star point guard doesn’t want out of the team, even if they struggle all year long. If he winds up leaving, it would be because the franchise said so, not because of him demanding to be traded.

5. The Minnesota Timberwolves Will Not Make the Playoffs

After ending the drought this season, the Wolves won’t go back to the Playoffs next year, especially with the locker room issues they’ve been having lately. Warriors, Rockets, Lakers, Spurs, Nuggets, Jazz, Thunder, Blazers are our picks to make it in the West, in no particular order.

4. The Oklahoma City Thunder Will Not Win the Championship

Even following Carmelo Anthony’s departure, the Oklahoma City Thunder is in no position of winning the NBA Championship. They will be better, for sure, they can make a nice run, but they don’t have what it takes to beat the Dubs, Lakers, Celtics or Sixers.

3. The Golden State Warriors Will Not Win 70+ Games

Let’s be honest here. With or without Cousins, the Dubs are done chasing records, they’ve already done it with the 73-9 season. They want rings, they will ease their way into Championship contention, they won’t win 70 regular season games.

2. The Toronto Raptors Will Not Win the Eastern Conference

The Toronto Raptors will never be a winning team, no matter how hard they try. They’ve traded away their best player in franchise history for a 1 year rental on a guy that doesn’t want to be there, and that has shown a lack of character to step up as a leader.

1. LeBron James Will Not Win the MVP

LeBron James is in for another spectacular season, this time with a much more improved roster than the prior. He’s going to take the Lakers back to playoff contention, but with his team likely to be seeded among the bottom 4 in the West, we expect a player of the likes of Durant, Kyrie or Harden to take the award home next season. Sorry, King.
