In Bronny James’ latest basketball milestone, several high-profile names sat courtside to show their support for the young athlete. On social media, one video went viral that featured LeBron James and his wife Savannah with Zhruri (their daughter), and Lakers star Anthony Davis.

Bronny, 19, made his G-League debut for the South Bay Lakers on Saturday and his family was in full attendance to see his first game, including Lakers star Anthony Davis who just scored 31 points against the 76ers on Friday. They didn’t do much to draw attention themselves but they were clearly tuned into the game and watching every minute that Bronny was on the floor. Even Gloria James, (LeBron’s mother) was there, marking three generations of the family together in the gym all to support Bronny’s G-League beginning.

For anyone who follows the James family, it shouldn’t be terribly surprising given the lengths that LeBron has gone to watch his son’s games in the past. Clearly, he wants to make it a point to support Bronny and that means showing up courtside to games like tonight.

Tonight, against the Salt Lake City Stars, Bronny started at small forward for the Lakers, scoring 6 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds on 2-10 shooting from the field. He also had a team-high 5 turnovers, although it didn’t stop his loyal supporters from staying positive on the night.

While not the finest numbers, Bronny showed flashes of his potential tonight as a playmaker and finisher for the Lakers. If he can just develop his three-point shot (he was 0-5 tonight) and make quicker decisions on the floor, it could result in a major leap for the young point guard.

This is just the start of a long development process for Bronny and it all began when the Lakers drafted him 55th overall this past summer. Coming from USC, where he averaged 4.8 points per game, James was lauded for his court vision, ball handling, and work ethic and those are the traits that the Lakers pointed to on draft day. Of course, his natural defensive instincts also helped make him an intriguing prospect.

In Summer League and during pre-season the Lakers worked with LeBron and Bronny to get him ready for the NBA grind but nobody expects it to be a quick or easy process. More than anything, the process will require practice and a lot of time.

Now that this season has begun, and his history-breaking moment is over, Bronny will be spending much more time with the South Bay Lakers where he can properly grow and learn from his mistakes.

It could be a while before Bronny is truly ready for NBA action but after signing a 4-year rookie deal this summer he has more time than most to find his place in the league. Right now, the 19-year-old is still just taking things slow as he learns on the fly and adjusts to his new competitive environment.

For what it’s worth, Bronny’s support system is second to none. Besides LeBron, Savannah, and Zhuri, he’s got Rich Paul, Anthony Davis, Rob Pelinka, and Jeanie Buss rooting for his success. Now, the ball is in his court to reward their trust and turn his hard work into major progress on the court.
