The United States Presidential election is just days away now and LeBron James recently made it clear which side he’s on. James endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris for president on Thursday and after the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Toronto Raptors 131-125 on Friday, he explained why he did it.

“I was going to do it the day of the game in Cleveland,” LeBron said. “But I didn’t want to overshadow the whole hoopla of me and Bronny going back home. That’s when I planned on doing it. So, I figured yesterday be a good day. Everything’s kind of silent and I wanted to make sure it’s seen, heard, and heard with force.

“I have a daughter, I have a wife, I have a mother, things of that nature what she believes in when it comes to women’s rights when it comes to the future,” James continued. “My kids and where obviously our country should be. I feel like that endorsement is only right… Come on, I mean you guys know me, damn sure wasn’t going the other way.”

I find it quite interesting that LeBron delayed the endorsement so that it didn’t take the attention away from him and his son Bronny James playing in Cleveland. I suppose it lets you know just how special that was for him.

Even if James hadn’t publicly endorsed Harris, I think everyone knew she had his support. If there’s one thing the 39-year-old is never going to do, it’s support Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Trump has taken a lot of shots at James and the NBA, in itself, over the years. While the Lakers star ignored most of them, he has fired some shots of his own at times. Simone Biles seemingly mocked Trump during the Olympics and LeBron certainly liked that. These two men do not like each other one bit and I doubt things are ever going to get better between them.

LeBron had endorsed Hilary Clinton for president back in 2016 when she was competing against Trump. He had even introduced Clinton at a rally in Cleveland and was disappointed when she ended up losing the race.

LeBron is hoping that his endorsement of Harris leads to her victory this time around. It looks set to be a close race between her and Trump and we’ll just have to wait and watch to see who comes out on top.

As for basketball, well the Lakers improved to 4-2 in the 2024-25 season by beating the Raptors here. It was their first road win of the campaign and James had 27 points, six rebounds, 10 assists, and a steal in the contest. While that was a pretty good outing, it had looked like we might witness a masterpiece from the 20-time All-Star considering how he started the game.

LeBron had 14 points in the first quarter alone but managed just 13 the rest of the way. He and the Lakers weren’t great in the second half, but just about managed to keep the Raptors at bay to snap a two-game losing streak.
