Bronny James: Official Draft Combine Measurements

Bronny's official draft combine measurements are released and he seems to be ready to handle the point guard position in the NBA.

The 2024 NBA Draft lottery winners were announced, meaning the Atlanta Hawks received the No. 1 overall pick and could be looking at talented French center Alexandre Sarre to turn around their fortunes. However, other major news includes that Bronny James, son of legendary basketball player LeBron James, will likely remain in the draft class with a chance to be taken by an NBA team. Bronny’s draft measurements have also been released, as the guard stands 6’1.5” without shoes and weighs 210.4 lbs. With a 6’7.25” wingspan, Bronny could be a typical point guard in the NBA.

After a difficult Freshman campaign at USC with the Trojans, where he only averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game on 36.6% shooting from the field, Bronny is still a very interesting prospect because even if he isn’t very tall (listed at 6’4” with shoes), his athleticism could make him an interesting prospect. He is a natural shooter, has a long wingspan, and has a solid base to add muscle to as he matures. At only 19 years old, Bronny likely hasn’t scratched the surface of his potential as a player and his performances in front of LeBron and Savannah James went relatively well (13 points on 4-of-10 shooting with two steals).

It is also reasonable to assume that any team that takes a stab at drafting Bronny, including the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James will likely follow in free agency. That does nothing but boost Bronny’s stock in the upcoming draft.

Who Will Draft Bronny James?

It remains to be seen if Bronny can actually live up to some of the hype his father is putting on him, which is why he is projected to fall outside of the top 15 of the draft, if he even gets drafted at all. The Lakers will be the team most interested in the young guard, considering they want to retain LeBron James for next season, so that seems to be Bronny’s most likely destination.

Otherwise, there are a couple of teams that could use a player of Bronny’s profile as a young player. The Phoenix Suns (No. 22 pick) need to shore up their depth, the New York Knicks (No. 24, 25, 38 picks) love the drama that could come with the Bronny selection, and even the Memphis Grizzlies might take a stab at a natural shooter to back up Ja Morant.

Other teams such as the Orlando Magic (No. 18, 47 picks) and San Antonio Spurs (No. 4, 8, 35, 48 picks) are building a competitive roster around young players and could bring more youth to boost their ascension in their respective conferences. The favorite is clearly the Los Angeles Lakers, who will do everything in their power to retain LeBron James, and drafting Bronny with the No. 17 overall pick will be a surefire way to accomplish that.
