Michael Porter Jr. cannot catch a break as he has been dealing with more upsetting family news. His 20-year-old brother Jevon Porter was arrested on April 27 for DWI and speeding. This news comes after his brother Caleb Porter was sentenced to jail for six years and elder brother Jontay Porter was banned from the NBA for life.

“Online records from the Missouri State Highway Patrol say Jevon Porter, 20, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. April 27 in Boone County. The record indicates he was arrested for DWI – alcohol and speeding. He was released on a summons.”

The Porter family is going through an incredibly rough time. Two brothers have been arrested with one spending the next six years behind bars and the other dealing with the consequences of making silly mistakes while knowing one of his brothers was sent to jail for drunk driving and killing someone.

Jontay Porter had made the NBA and could have gotten a veteran minimum deal worth more than a million dollars next season. Instead, he bet all his money chasing the thrill of online gambling. Porter has been recorded betting on himself to play badly and the Raptors to lose, which resulted in him being banned for life by the NBA.

Michael Porter Jr. Opens Up On The Challenges Of Dealing With Family Troubles

Porter Jr. is hoping to be a productive and positive player for the Nuggets as they hope to retain their championship. However, he’s having to play through a lot of emotional trauma, given what’s happening with his family. He opened up about the same before the Lakers series.

“Definitely tried to compartmentalize some bad and sad stuff happening to a couple of my brothers, but I got 15, 16 more brothers in here, so I knew I had to be here for ’em and come in here and do my job and try to prepare to do it at a high level.”

“Each one of ’em texted me separately and just told me they got my back; If I need anything, they got me. A lot of people were reaching out, friends, family. To have these guys understand why I missed practice yesterday and just have my back has been big for me.”

He kept his basketball doing the talking in the first round, averaging 22.8 points and 8.4 rebounds. He’s been the Nuggets’ X-Factor, and if he isn’t locked in, the Nuggets may fall to the Timberwolves or someone else down the line. His shooting splits have been remarkable and if he can continue this pace up, there’s no reason the Nuggets will lose.
