In a guest appearance on ‘KG Certified,’ iconic American actor and comedian Adam Sandler gave his thoughts on Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards. According to Sandler, Ant has got all the makings of a true superstar and is the next in line to become the face of the league itself.
“[Anthony Edwards’] got the charism. He’s funny. He’s cool [and] laid-back,” said the three-time Grammy Award winner. “He’s confident in his game… By the way, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love that guy in the league too, right?”
Adam Sandler is a long-time basketball fan and has made friends with many players over the years. He worked side-by-side with Edwards and other pros during filming for ‘Hustle,’ which premiered on Netflix back in 2022. Edwards was one of many guest stars in the movie and he got to know Sandler well during that time.
It’s no surprise, then, that the entertainment icon holds Edwards in very high regard. The 22-year-old is already making big strides in his limited experience and he’s got the makings of a guy who is built for the spotlight.
In the past, Edwards has drawn comparisons to various NBA legends, including Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade. Even Bulls legend Michael Jordan recently admitted that Edwards is the next big thing and that his game is compatible with his own.
In three seasons so far, Edwards has shown flashes of brilliance and his athleticism has resulted in countless viral videos online. But until Edwards can make progress in the postseason, his status will always be up for debate.

This season, he’s looking to change that. With averages of 26.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game Edwards is having his best statistical campaign ever and has led the Timberwolves to the third-best record in the West at 47-22.
Alongside Karl-Anthony Towns, Mike Conley, and Rudy Gobert, Edwards has, arguably, his best chance yet of breaking the cycle of losing and making history with the Timberwolves franchise. If he’s able to win it this year, or at least make a run to the Finals, it could set the stage for his rise as the NBA’s next big superstar.
If not, then someone else will surely take his place — whether it’s Ja Morant, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, or any of the other countless young stars who are waiting for their chance at ascension. Edwards is at the front of the line for this queue, and his stamp of approval from Adam Sandler is a good sign of what’s to come for the rest of his career.
