The Golden State Warriors are off to a 5-2 start in the 2023-24 season, and that is despite a brutal opening schedule that has seen them spend a lot of time traveling across the country.

That makes it six different cities that they’ve had to play in, in just 13 days. It’s a ridiculous amount of travel, and you can’t help but think there were ways to optimize a schedule like this which has a lot of road games at the start.
We had seen the San Antonio Spurs play two games against the Phoenix Suns on the road one after the other, earlier this season. Similarly, the Warriors could have been scheduled to play the Rockets twice in Houston, but now instead, their second trip there will come in April.
A look at the upcoming schedule for the Warriors also shows that the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Oklahoma City Thunder will play consecutive road games at Chase Center in mid-November. It’s a great way to reduce the travel time and you wonder why the Warriors weren’t afforded that luxury.
Their travels haven’t ended either, as the Warriors have two games left on this road trip. They are on the road against the Detroit Pistons on Monday night and then the Denver Nuggets on November 8. By the end of it, they’d have played in eight different cities in 16 days.
The Warriors Have Turned Things Around On The Road This Season
One of the biggest talking points regarding the Warriors last season was just how bad they were on the road. They went 11-30 away from home, and at various points of the campaign, were not too far off from having the worst road record.
In this 2023-24 season, though, they have turned it around. Despite having spent so much time traveling, the Warriors have put together a 4-1 on the road. They have the most road wins in the league at this point, which is remarkable considering just how bad they were away from home last season.
They’ve certainly taken a step in the right direction and if they can remain dominant at home (33-8 last season), then the Warriors will be in the race for the top seed in the Western Conference.
Stephen Curry Is Off To A Phenomenal Start This Season
While everyone has played their part in this hot start for the Warriors, the man leading the way, as always, is Stephen Curry. The 35-year-old has averaged 30.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per game so far this season.
The arrival of Chris Paul has reduced the playmaking burden on Curry and has also made life easier for him as a scorer. The two-time MVP is putting up those numbers on ridiculous efficiency, shooting 54.5% from the field and 48.8% from beyond the arc. He has been giving opposing teams nightmares and seems to have his eyes set on winning his fifth championship.
