The Golden State Warriors looked to be in trouble as they were trailing the Houston Rockets in the fourth quarter. Stephen Curry shrugged off a poor performance up until that point to take over the game. He punctuated his sudden reversal of form by hitting Dillon Brooks with a behind-the-back crossover and made him jump early before draining a three to put the Warriors up 11 points.

Curry ended the game with 24 points, but 14 of them came in the fourth quarter to help take the Warriors to the win. This is a shame for Brooks, who did a fantastic job of limiting Curry’s offense for the entire game but couldn’t do it in the fourth quarter. Brooks’ lack of offensive capability also held the Rockets back, who struggled to score in yet another game.
The Warriors improve to 2-1 on the season, moving on well from their opening night loss to the Suns. The Warriors’ win total by the end of the season will be fascinating to see given the high range of performances they’re capable of. At least having Draymond Green back will help get the franchise some on-court stability.
Stephen Curry’s Incredible Feats Keep Steve Kerr As The Warriors Head Coach
Moments like the ones we saw today against the Rockets become signature Curry moments we all remember for a long time. It wasn’t a playoff winner or a buzzer-beater, but the pure skill on display shows exactly how much better Curry is than most other NBA players.
Steve Kerr understands that being able to coach a talent like Curry is not normal. He has openly admitted that he likely wouldn’t still be a coach in the NBA without having a player like Curry on his roster, as it makes his job easier.
“I thank my stars every day. Literally every day,” Kerr said. “The ability to coach Steph right from the beginning is the only reason I’m still here is because of the human being he is, not just the player and as talented as he is, but the tone that he sets for the whole group. It just makes my job so much easier.”
Warriors fans look at Kerr in the same way, so this is a pretty funny dichotomy. Everyone knows Steph is among the greatest players ever and the greatest shooter ever, but he still has many more years on the court to add to his legacy.
Stephen Curry’s Longevity Is Amazing
Curry spent his early career battling ankle injuries that many expected could have ended his NBA career. To reach the levels he envisioned, Curry had to work incredibly hard. His teammate and LeBron James‘ biggest fan, Draymond Green, shared the secret of how Curry is going to emulate LeBron and play in the NBA at a very high level into his 40s.
“He’s one of the most special people you can be around and when you look at Steph, he smiles, he’s the golden child, he’s all of these things but underneath all of that there’s like a never-dying passion that’s just burning, raging. He works as hard as I’ve ever seen anyone whether that’s in the weight room, the basketball court… He’s trying to defeat age! Every day I come in and watch him and it’s like this dude continues to work hard. This dude’s trying to defeat age. We all know Father Time is undefeated but we’re beating those odds right now.”
Trying to defeat age may not be easily achievable, but given how Curry is playing at the age of 35, we can safely say his shooting ability can keep him around the league for five more seasons if not more.
