Jordan Clarkson, the 11-year veteran in the NBA, reportedly intends to sign with the Knicks after he clears his waivers with the Jazz. He was expected to earn $14.2 million in the 2025-26 season, but both parties have mutually agreed to part ways, and now Clarkson is headed to New York to join the Knicks

Knicks fans seemed to be delighted to hear this news as they took to social media and expressed their feelings on this move.

“Knicks to the finals”

“This is a solid move for the Knicks. Clarkson brings scoring and versatility, which they need. Excited to see how he fits into the lineup!”

“Amazing signing”

“The bench scorer and reliever that we needed, as long as it’s a team-friendly deal (likely vet minimum), this is a slam dunk for Leon.”

“Clarkson is a legitimate bench scorer/elite shot creator!! Desperate need has been filled.”

“Huge bench scoring option. Exactly what we needed.”

“Love it if it’s for the vet minimum. Good f***ing start to the offseason, man.”

“Smh if we don’t sign Russell Westbrook imma be pissed”

Clarkson averaged 16.2 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game last season for the Jazz, but that was due to his limited usage as he played only 26 minutes per game. He was shooting 40.8% from the field last season, and 36.2% from deep. On any good day, he could drop 20 points off the bench for the Knicks.

Why The Knicks Needed Jordan Clarkson

The Knicks fell short in the Eastern Conference Finals this season simply because the Pacers’ roster depth, with the likes of Bennedict Mathurin and T.J. McConnell coming off the bench, outplayed the Knicks down the stretch. Therefore, the Knicks realized that they needed some bench depth for scoring, as they cannot be overly reliant on Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns to generate all their offense.

Hence, Clarkson is the perfect fit for their requirements. Here’s a mixtape of his highlights from the season to show you exactly who the Knicks are adding to their roster.

Some fans even anticipate that the Knicks will add more depth to their roster by signing Russell Westbrook as well, who is also a free agent. Considering that he will also likely be a veteran minimum addition to the team, the Knicks will have acquired some high-quality bench depth and spent very little money in doing so if Westbrook also joins the Knicks.
