Kevin Durant and WNBA star Rhyne Howard took social media by storm on Monday night, as they sparked dating rumors by sharing an interesting picture of theirs.

Howard, who plays for the Atlanta Dream, posted a selfie with Durant’s head right on top of her own as an Instagram story. The pose there and the fact that the caption contained a smiling face with hearts have left many wondering if there is love in the air.

Durant shared the image on his own Instagram story as well, and the two seem to have met up after the preseason game between the Phoenix Suns and the Portland Trail Blazers on 16 October. There is no word yet from either on if they are actually dating. As for the game, the Suns won 117-106, and Durant had 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Rhyne Howard Shared How She And Kevin Durant Met

Those who don’t follow the WNBA may not know who Howard is, but the 23-year-old has accomplished a lot in her short basketball career. She was a sensation at the University of Kentucky, winning SEC Player of the Year in 2020 and 2021.

In 2022, she became just the third Wildcat to record 2,000 points in her college career and was promptly chosen as the first pick of the 2022 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Dream. She made the All-Star team in each of her first two seasons, and her good play caught the attention of Durant, a huge fan of the WNBA. The two met for the first time earlier this year, with Howard sharing a picture of them on Instagram.

During an appearance on “The It Girls” podcast in March, Howard shared how the meeting came about.

“It had been brought to my attention that I was one of his favorite players,” Howard said. “And I was like, ‘The Kevin Durant loves me?’ And so I was home on a break and I went to a game… and I DM’d him and I was like ‘’I think I need to meet you officially, so can I come down?’”

Durant welcomed her and the two had a nice chat.

“So (I) came down and we talked a little bit,” Howard added. “He’s very chill, very nice, and we talked a little bit, and ended up taking that picture… I texted him not too long ago saying like, ‘I guess I have to replace my Nets jersey with a Suns jersey (and he’s like), ‘Yeah, lol’ and he was saying how he was trying to get to some of our games and stuff like that.”

(starts at 17:25 mark):

She mentioned here, though, that Klay Thompson is her favorite NBA player and when asked if she’d marry him, Howard jokingly said she 100% would.

Kevin Durant Spoke On The Suns’ Big 3

Durant has managed to keep his personal life under wraps for the most part, so he probably isn’t going to speak much on this topic until things start getting serious. What you can get him to talk about, though, is his team, with Durant explaining why the Suns will be unguardable.

“You can’t guard all of us at once. Especially when guys like (Devin) Booker can beat a double team. We have to play fundamentally sound ball, not turn the ball over, and we’ll be in solid shape on offense.”

Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal are the NBA’s latest Big 3, and they seem confident about their prospects entering the 2023-24 campaign. In them, the Suns have three outstanding scorers, but it remains to be seen how well they work on the court, and if Phoenix has enough around them to get over the line and win a title.
