  • Vincent stressed the importance of having the whole team together

The Los Angeles Lakers will be one of the teams contending next season, and there’s no doubt that the team has started their season preparations early. LeBron James organized a minicamp for the team in San Diego, and every player was in attendance.

When speaking with Mark Medina of Sportskeeda Basketball recently, Gabe Vincent shared some details about what went on in the minicamp. Vincent noted that it “went well”, and added that the team partook in some bonding activities as well.

“It went well. It was good to get everything in the same building and get a little jumpstart. It’s about the times we got together on the court. We had some dinners and did some things off the court to try to bring the team closer together bit by bit. But it was great to get everyone in the same building and compete a little bit and work on our games. It was fun.”

Later on in the interview, Vincent also elaborated on why he believes this minicamp is important for the Lakers’ season. The guard noted that “continuity and togetherness” are both important factors when it comes to the postseason, and added that anytime the team can all be together “pays dividends” in the long run. Hopefully

“Continuity and togetherness is important in my short experience in the playoffs and down the stretch of a long season. Any chance you can to bring the group together helps and pays dividends. It was great to start that process early and get everyone familiar with one another.”

The Lakers are clearly serious about doing everything possible to win the championship next season, from the front office to the players. It will be interesting to see if the Lakers will end up hitting the ground running, and having some familiarity together will definitely help.

Guard Gabe Vincent was a key part of the Miami Heat’s Finals appearance in 2023, averaging 12.7 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 37.8% from 3PT range. Hopefully, he can replicate a similar level of production for the Lakers throughout the entire season.

LeBron James Has Been Hard At Work Preparing For Next Season

There is no doubt that LeBron James is well-known for his work ethic, and he has been putting in a lot of work during the offseason. That sort of work is necessary to keep dominating as James has.

In fact, Rob Pelinka recently revealed the details of LeBron James’ intense preparation for the 2023-24 Lakers season, claiming that the superstar has been preparing for his 21st season “like a rookie”. He also noted that the superstar’s work “sets the tone” for the rest of the squad.

LeBron James had a very solid season last year, averaging 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game while shooting 50.0% from the field. Though he is in the twilight of his career, he is still an All-NBA-caliber player, and we’ll see how he does next season.

The Los Angeles Lakers Have Prioritized Continuity This Offseason

Though the Los Angeles Lakers are a franchise known for chasing stars, it seems as though the team has taken a different route this offseason. Their depth was one of the reasons they made the Western Conference Finals last year, and the team didn’t want to change an approach that gave them success.

The team did sign some new faces, such as Gabe Vincent and Christian Wood to fill out the roster. However, the Lakers also retained players like Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura, showing that they’re willing to run it back with largely the same roster.

Of course, things could change in the future, as the team could need a shake-up at the trade deadline if they start poorly. But as of right now, it seems as though the front office is committed to this iteration of the team.

Hopefully, we do see the Los Angeles Lakers get to the NBA Finals next year. They have the talent to do so, but obviously, talent doesn’t always guarantee that a team will be successful.
