James Harden is one of two massive NBA superstars that has requested a trade this offseason. And despite his desire to leave the Philadelphia 76ers, things haven’t exactly gone to plan for Harden.
James Harden seemed to only want the Los Angeles Clippers initially, but the buzz surrounding them fizzled out. And despite the Clippers reportedly not making an effort to plan Harden anymore, the latest news suggests that he hasn’t given up.

James Harden averaged 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 10.7 assists for the Philadelphia 76ers last season, but as usual, was unable to help the team make a deep playoff run. He no longer sees eye to eye with Doc Rivers either, leading to the trade request.
James Harden led the league in assists last season, and despite diminished scoring, his playmaking has only improved late in his career. He would be the ideal superstar to pair with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, although the prospect of him joining the Los Angeles Clippers looks very bleak at this point.

Brian Windhorst said, “(The Clippers) tried to trade for James Harden, and that deal didn’t happen,” Windhorst explained. “And from what I understand, it was the Clippers who said, ‘Okay, there’s no deal here. We’re gonna move on.’”
The Los Angeles Clippers already have Russell Westbrook, who despite his struggles, is still an excellent playmaker and leader. He is considered the team’s leader and averaged 7.6 assists per game last season. Even if James Harden’s numbers might be marginally better, the Clippers will have to give up a lot to get him.

Speaking on the subject, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver outright condemned the actions of Damian Lillard and James Harden and called for both players to honor their contracts. “Don’t like them as a league. I want players and teams to both honor their contracts,” Silver said to Howard Beck.
“I’m watching everything going on in Portland and Philadelphia and hoping they get resolved to everyone’s satisfaction. I’m glad it seems to have calmed down as far as public discourse.”
James Harden may no longer want to be in Philadelphia but it’s hard to say where he will end up by the time the 2023-24 season begins. He still wants the Clippers and now the million-dollar question is, do they want him?
