- The Los Angeles Clippers are in no rush to make a move for James Harden
- The team does not want to give in to Daryl Morey’s “big demands”
- The Clippers are entirely fine with continuing to watch the situation
The Los Angeles Clippers are aiming to be a competitive team next season, and there is no doubt that they can contend if they’re fully healthy. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George make up one of the best star duos in the league, and the only thing holding them back is their durability.
This summer, we have seen the Los Angeles Clippers frequently being linked to James Harden following the star’s trade request from the Philadelphia 76ers. Some reports have even indicated that Harden is talking to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, and the trio is on the same page. However, thus far, a Harden trade has not materialized. In fact, NBA insider Marc Spears revealed that the Clippers are not desperate to trade for James Harden.
“From what I’m being told about the Clippers is they’re not being desperate [about James Harden]. They feel like they’re going to keep watching this fire burn. At some point, the Sixers are going to be desperate, and they’re going to get pennies on the dollar instead of the big demands that Daryl Morey is making.”

There is no doubt that this stance makes sense from the Los Angeles Clippers. They don’t want to give up too much for James Harden and lose valuable depth in the process. It makes far more sense to wait and get Harden at a lower price.
This past season, James Harden averaged 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 10.7 assists per game while shooting 38.5% from 3PT range. There is no doubt that Harden can still be an impactful player, especially as a No. 3 option behind Kawhi Leonard and LeBron James.
The New York Knicks Were Also Interested In James Harden
Though James Harden obviously wants to join the Los Angeles Clippers, there could be other teams that would be willing to add him to their rosters. In fact, it was recently reported that the Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks have had preliminary trade talks about James Harden.
At this point, it is unclear if James Harden would be willing to play for the New York Knicks. He could form a dynamic backcourt with Jalen Brunson and provide the team with a valuable veteran presence. He shouldn’t cost too much to acquire for the Knicks either due to his contract situation, and we’ll see if the team revisits those trade talks before the start of the season.
James Harden Has Been Described As Unreliable
There is no doubt that James Harden is an elite player when on the court. However, some people have concerns about his attitude, and Harden’s former coach described the star as unreliable already. This could be an issue for any team that acquires him.
With that being said, it is quite possible that James Harden will be motivated and locked in on another franchise, especially one that is competing for an NBA championship. Hopefully, he gets to leave the 76ers and join another team, and we’ll see where he ends up before the start of the season.
