  • Charles Barkley has been a very entertaining figure on Inside the NBA
  • On his debut on the show, Barkley brutally roasted Peter Vescey
  • Vescey had mocked Barkley’s weight in the past

Charles Barkley has been simply phenomenal on Inside the NBA over the years, and his debut on the show back in 2000 was certainly a sign of things to come. When Barkley was shown what Peter Vescey, a journalist on the show that night, had written about his weight previously, Barkley hilariously fired back.

“I am gaining weight, I can lose weight,” Barkley said. “He always going to be ugly. That’s the difference between being fat and ugly, a fat person can lose weight an ugly person always going to be ugly.”

Barkley has never really had a filter, which is what has made him such an entertaining figure. It isn’t often that someone who has been on television for over 20 years at this point remains so popular, and it speaks to the audience’s appreciation for Barkley’s authenticity and humor.

Losing weight wasn’t actually something Barkley seemed to really focus on for a long time, but that changed recently, as he lost 60 pounds.

Barkley revealed that a doctor’s harsh assessment motivated him to lose weight, as she told him he wouldn’t be around for much longer if he didn’t.

Charles Barkley Will Be Retiring From Television In Less Than 10 Years

Sir Charles signed a 10-year deal worth more than $100 million with TNT last year, but the former MVP doesn’t plan to stick around for the duration of that contract.

Barkley confirmed he will retire from television within 10 years, with the 60-year-old stating he is not interested at all in working when he is 70.

The Hall of Famer added that the only thing that keeps him up at night is wondering what is the right time for him to walk away.

It will be a really sad day when Barkley decides he is done with television. A character like him is impossible to replace, but no one is going to hold it against him if he just wants to relax and spend time with his family.
