  • Towns was in action at the FIBA World Cup 2023
  • In a move that has garnered attention, Towns seems to fix his hair before taking a free-throw
  • This riled up the home crowd as Towns went on smiling back

In a delightful and somewhat unconventional display on the FIBA World Cup stage, NBA fans couldn’t help but smile as they witnessed Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns engaging in a light-hearted pre-free throw routine – a routine that involves a quick fix of his hair.

During the FIBA World Cup match against the Philippines, Towns was at the free-throw line when he saw the camera on him. He then sees his hair being a little messed up and he goes on to fix it a little bit. This is shown on the big screen at the stadium, and that seemed to rile up the home fans.

Towns realized what he did and he went on smiling back to the other side. This even caught the eye of NBA fans from all around the world.

One fan said that they said that KAT is too funny and they love him.

KAT is so funny, I love this man 🀣 ( in a non homosexual way ) pic.twitter.com/oBpmlhtnl3

Another fan was not impressed with this and they called out one of his teammates, who threw an inadvertent punch in the game.

Nothin' wrong with your hair but your teammate delgado has a big problem punching one player from Gilas!

Another fan joined the action and called out FIBA as well.

How about the punch @AngelDelgado ? We will just ignore it? @FIBAWC ? No action?

— Chopsuey (@dcipher96) August 27, 2023

One more fan joined in and they went on a rant this time around.

I say, β€œwhat’s wrong with your teammate Angel Delgado throwing a sucker punch at our player and @FIBA referees missed that?” is the appropriate question to ask IMHO! You aim for fair play and it doesn’t manifest at all.

During all this intense debate, one fan just enjoyed what they saw and posted their thoughts with a single emoji.

Social media platforms have been abuzz with GIFs and videos capturing the hair-fixing moments, generating laughs and applause. The light-hearted nature of the gesture is a refreshing reminder that, even on the grand stage of international competition, athletes can find ways to enjoy the game while engaging their audience.

Karl-Anthony Towns Guides Dominican Republic to Victory Over Philippines in FIBA World Cup Clash

In a high-stakes showdown at the FIBA World Cup 2023, Karl-Anthony Towns showcased his prowess on the court, leading the Dominican Republic to a hard-fought victory against the Philippines with a final score of 87-81.

The game, held at the Mall of Asia Arena, proved to be a thrilling encounter that saw Towns delivering a double-double performance, scoring 26 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Towns’ dominant presence proved to be the driving force behind the Dominican Republic’s success. Despite a record-breaking crowd of 38,115 fans filling the arena, the Gilas Pilipinas couldn’t maintain their grip on the game, especially after the ejection of Jordan Clarkson.

Throughout the match, both teams battled tenaciously, with the score remaining close from start to finish. The hosts, after trailing 22-18 in the opening quarter, managed to make a comeback, knotting the score at 42-42 by halftime.

The intensity only escalated in the final frame, as both sides exchanged the lead until the Dominicans surged ahead in the closing minutes.

While Jordan Clarkson put on an impressive performance for the Philippines, leading all scorers with 28 points, Towns’ impact couldn’t be denied. The center’s defensive pressure and offensive contributions proved pivotal in maintaining the Dominican Republic’s edge.

Victor Liz also contributed significantly with 18 points and four steals, while Andres Feliz added 12 points to the team’s tally. As the FIBA World Cup 2023 continues, Karl-Anthony Towns’ performance remains a highlight, showcasing his ability to lead his team to victory on the global stage.

With the Dominican Republic aiming for further success in the tournament, Towns’ leadership and on-court excellence will undoubtedly play a crucial role in their journey.
