  • Tracy McGrady showed he can still ball in a viral Instagram video
  • He was up against YouTuber Jesser in a Moneyball contest and won it
  • McGrady is regarded as one of the most lethal scorers in NBA history

Tracy McGrady may have called time on his NBA career in 2013, but ten years later, he’s still got the smooth three-pointer that made him one of the more elite scorers in the game.

In a video that saw him go up against popular YouTuber Jesser, McGrady beat the latter in a Moneyball three-point game without breaking into a sweat.

Dressed in a pair of yellow shorts and light white tee, McGrady was all smiles as he sunk one three after another. The competitive spirit was seen as well when he flinched after missing one of the shots. In the end, it was a win for T-Mac.

McGrady entered the NBA out of high school and was selected as the ninth overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in the 1997 NBA draft. After making steady growth in his first three seasons, he was traded to the Orlando Magic, where he emerged as one of the better players in the league.

In his four seasons with the Magic, he averaged career-best numbers of 28.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game.

In the 2000-01 season, he was prolific scoring more than 20 points a game over the next eight seasons, and later bumping it to 25 points per game in the next five. Paired with Yao Ming in the Houston Rockets, the pair were tasked with leading Houston to glory but fell short in the postseason.

He was somewhat of a journeyman in the final stages of his career, spending a season each with the New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks, and the San Antonio Spurs.

While he was garnering immense flak for his playoff success, the seven-time All-Star was one of the more consistent scorers in the league and will surely go down in NBA history as one of the league’s finest.

Tracy McGrady Believes He Was Right Up There With The Greats In Talent Level

The shooting guard was one of the lethal scorers in the NBA in his prime, and there’s no doubt that the world was impressed with how effortless it was for Tracy McGrady to score against the best defenders.

Despite his talent level, Tracy McGrady has never made it out of the first round of the postseason as a bonafide superstar on a roster. Recently, he spoke out about his talent, claiming that he was up there alongside the “greatest players” to have played in the NBA.

“My talent level was definitely up with the great players that have played this game. I didn’t play with Shaq. I didn’t play with no LeBrons. Yao [Ming] was my best teammate, and we couldn’t stay healthy.”

Maybe the outcome would have been different if McGrady and Ming stayed healthy. The numbers and the skill set said it all. But unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.

That though doesn’t change the fact that McGrady was one of the greatest scorers during his time.
