- Steve Kerr addresses uncertainty after Chris Paul acquisition
- Kerr says Warriors needed “another way to attack”
- Kerr says Paul will give the team a “different look” on offense
The Chris Paul trade is undoubtedly among the summer’s most controversial moves. While most fans and experts agreed that Jordan Poole had to go, nobody was expecting new Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. to trade him for Chris Paul, who turned 38 in May.
Despite all the uncertainty, the Warriors have expressed nothing but excitement for the new addition, and head coach Steve Kerr became the latest to explain why Paul will help his team a lot…
“Chris is such an incredible competitor. He’s one of the all-time great competitors in my mind,” Kerr said on Sports Illustrated. “He’s so smart, he controls games, he’s thinking three steps ahead at all times. He gets any shot he wants in the mid-range. Our team last year needed another way to attack. We became a little too one-dimensional with Steph [Curry] in high ball screens. We needed another playmaker to give us a different look.”

Chris Paul is an 18-year veteran with 12 All-Star appearances and 11 All-NBA selections. By many, he’s considered one of the greatest playmakers of All-Time. Despite his illustrious resume, however, he’s not the player he used to be, and that was evident last season when his numbers saw some pretty big dips across the board.
With the Warriors, Paul will be asked to play a role off the bench he’s not accustomed to playing after almost two decades of starting.
Obviously, there are reasons to be concerned if you’re a Warriors fan, and many are still not convinced that Paul will make a profound impact on the team next season.
The Last Stop For CP3?
After failing to win a title in LA, Houston, and now Phoneix, the time is almost out for Chris Paul to capture that elusive ring. The Warriors give him, arguably, his best chance to win yet, but there are rumblings that he won’t be on the team past next season.
So, whatever’s next for Chris Paul, this could be his last chance to change the narrative of his career, and he’s not one to let those types of opportunities pass him by.
