This summer, there was some real uncertainty about the future of Draymond Green, who became an unrestricted free agent in the aftermath of a disappointing run with the Warriors. As important as Dray has been to the organization, he has a tendency to get carried away at times, and it has hurt the team several times before (especially with Jordan Poole).

In the end, however, there really wasn’t much drama at all for Green. He agreed to return to the Warriors fairly quickly and even left some money on the table so he could run it back with his squad.

“I don’t care what nobody says when an NBA player takes less money in this business at this time and stage is a big ups… [Warriors] ain’t the same without Draymond [Green].”

Dray isn’t the flashiest player in the league, but what he brings as a defender, playmaker, and tone-setter is hard to find in this league, and it’s not easily replaceable. So for Dray to come back on a team-friendly deal really says a lot about his relationship with the team and his desire to keep competing alongside some of the best shooters in the world.

Can Dubs Win Another Title With Steph, Klay, And Draymond?

This summer, the Warriors doubled down on their famed championship core by trading their young asset (Jordan Poole) for a veteran point guard. Now, the pressure falls on the big three to prove they still have what it takes to win it all.

“I’m excited. I know I’ve been sort of the sworn enemy for a long time,” said Chris Paul on his new team. “But I cannot wait to be there, and I cannot wait to help them win… The fortunate part is I’ve played for 18 years and I’ve figured it out…”

Only time will tell how things play out in Golden State, but Draymond clearly still believes he can win with his superstar teammates. He made the right decision to stick around, and hopefully, it continues to pay off for him.
