Picking an all-time NBA starting five is not an easy task by any means. We had Stephen Curry recently reveal his all-time lineup, and the fact that LeBron James wasn’t on his list caused a bit of a stir.

Some great player is inevitably going to be left out, but James Harden also tried his hand at it and to be fair, he came up with a pretty good starting five.

James Harden’s All-Time NBA Starting Five:

LeBron James

Kobe Bryant

Michael Jordan

Tim Duncan

Shaquille O’Neal

“I’m going LeBron at my point guard. I’m going Kobe at my two. I’m going Jordan at my three. I’m going Timmy at my four and I’m going Shaq at my five.”

Interestingly, four of the five players he picked were also selected by Curry, with Jordan, Bryant, Duncan, and O’Neal on both of their teams. Their resumes basically speak for themselves.

Jordan won six championships, six Finals MVPs, and five MVPs, while Bryant won five championships, two Finals MVPs, and an MVP. The two of them are generally regarded as the two best shooting guards of all time.

Duncan, meanwhile, also won five championships to go with three Finals MVPs and two MVPs and holds the title of greatest power forward ever. Lastly, Shaq is the most dominant player in modern NBA history and he won four championships, three Finals MVPs, and an MVP.

The only difference between the two lists was Curry picked Magic Johnson as his point guard while Harden went with LeBron. Magic was a true point guard, unlike LeBron, but it is hard to not have an all-time starting five without him. James won four titles, four Finals MVPs, four MVPs, and is the all-time leading scorer in NBA history.

What’s Next For James Harden?

Harden has a spectacular resume of his own, having won an MVP, three straight scoring titles, and two assist titles. The reason why he doesn’t get the respect that those guys get is that he hasn’t won a championship and has struggled in the playoffs in general.

He believes he can finally win that elusive title if he goes to the Los Angeles Clippers and is adamant that he only wants to be traded there.  If he does get his wish and provided they’d still have Kawhi Leonard and Paul George after landing him, he’d certainly have a great chance of getting the proverbial monkey off his back.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
