The Miami Heat shocked the NBA when they announced the Big 3 of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh ahead of the 2010-2011 season.

Everything was going well for the Heat until they faced Dirk Nowitzki and Dallas Mavericks in the 2011 NBA Finals. Despite taking a 2-1 lead in the series, the Heat ultimately lost the series 2-4 against the Mavs. In an interview with Bleacher Report, Nowitzki admitted the Mavericks were lucky to face the Heatles in Year 1.

“I think we were fortunate to see them in Year 1 of them getting together,” Dirk said, per Bleacher Report. “They took their games to another level, figuring out even better how to play off each other, play with each other. They looked almost unbeatable for a while.”

Dirk Nowitzki averaged 26.0 PPG, 9.7 RPG, and 2.0 APG in six games vs. the Heat. The German international also won the 2011 NBA Finals MVP for his efforts. On the other hand, the Heat choked a 2-1 lead.

However, they bounced back in the next two years. The Heat won 4-1 vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2012 NBA Finals and 4-3 vs. the San Antonio Spurs in the 2013 NBA Finals.

Dirk Nowitzki Hated The Big 3 Of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, And Chris Bosh

Dirk Nowitzki flipped the switch in the 2011 NBA Finals after going down 2-1. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade trolling the Mavs legend played a crucial role in it.

According to former Dallas Mavericks player JJ Barea, Dirk Nowitzki hated the Big 3 of the Miami Heat. Nowitzki let his game do the talking.

“He hated Miami. He hated LeBron, Wade, and Bosh. He’s never gonna say that, but he couldn’t stand them. He got ready for it, and that year, he doesn’t talk much, he leads by example. That year, in timeouts, before the games, halftime, he would talk. He would talk loud, and point fingers, he was on one. He was special, he had a different mindset that year.”

Nowitzki was incredible in the 2011 NBA Finals, and he shocked the world by leading the Mavericks to the title as the underdogs against the Big 3 of the Heat.
