LeBron James has built up quite the GOAT case over the years, having won four championships, four Finals MVPs, and four MVPs to go with his numerous other accolades. The latest feather in his cap came when he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the all-time leading scorer in NBA history.

His former teammate Rashard Lewis is amazed that James is still going strong after two decades in the league and believes he is the GOAT now.

“I think you definitely can put him as the GOAT,” Lewis said. “But I’ve always told people let’s wait till his career is over. Let’s see how many more championships he wins or if he can win another championship.

“I do hate the fact that they skip over Kobe Bryant when they bring the GOAT conversation up,” Lewis continued. “Of course, it’s Michael Jordan and LeBron, but I think you got to put Kobe in that mix somewhere too, a lot of respect for Kobe.

“But also LeBron, he’s definitely the GOAT, hands down, IQ, great basketball player, family man,” Lewis added. “I’ve seen the man do a lot… playing with him I really got a chance to see he has great IQ of the game.”

(starts at 2:53 mark):

Lewis was a two-time All-Star who played with LeBron on the Miami Heat for two seasons from 2012 to 2014. They won a championship together in 2013 when James was perhaps at the absolute peak of his powers and their time as teammates clearly made quite an impression on Lewis.

Metta Sandiford-Artest Also Believes LeBron Is The GOAT

Another former player who believes LeBron is now the GOAT is Metta-Sandiford Artest. The former Laker is a fan of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant but stated that the stats say LeBron is the GOAT, and he praised his IQ as well.

There’s no doubt that the number of people who consider LeBron to be the greatest is increasing as time goes by. Jordan is still widely regarded as the GOAT, though, with a fan recently showing some of the categories where he beats LeBron.

An advantage LeBron has over MJ, though, is that he has time to further add to his case. James has a couple of good years left in him, you’d think, and if he can win a championship or two in that time, he’d probably tilt the debate in his favor.
