Chris Paul‘s stint with the Los Angeles Clippers was expected to be the time that got them out of the shadow of the Los Angeles Lakers. With CP3 at the helm, the Clippers were expected to become one of the best teams in the NBA. But that never happened. JJ Redick shared the lowest moment of Chris Paul’s time with the Clippers.

During a podcast episode with Kevin Durant, JJ Redick spoke about their 2014 playoff series, when KD was on the Warriors and CP3, and Reddick were on the Clippers. Reddick noted that he and the Clippers collapsed, and Paul would make two baffling mistakes that cost them the game, and that was the lowest moment of Paul’s Clippers career.

“We’re in OKC for Game 5. We’re up 11 with a little over 4 minutes to go. We just have an uber-meltdown… All we’re thinking about is like, let’s run the clock, let’s run the clock out and they take the ball out of bounds and Kevin (Durant) hits the three off the inbound…”

“And then CP, Russ went to go foul him was just dribble one more time. Then the ball went out of bounds off Reggie Jackson. They gave you (OKC) guys the ball… And then CP fouled Russ on a three… That was the lowest, and we went through some Lows with the Clippers. That bus ride to the airport, that was the lowest as I’ve ever seen CP.”

Chris Paul would end up leaving the LA Clippers through a trade three seasons later, never even making a Western Conference Finals with the franchise. Paul, along with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, were expected to bring a championship to the franchise, but that never happened.

Chris Paul Hoping To Win A Championship Before Retirement

Chris Paul would go to Houston in 2017, teaming up with James Harden. The Rockets, with Paul at the helm, were the team that came the closest to defeating the Golden State Warriors at full strength during their dynastic years. Paul would fall out with Harden, and be traded to OKC.

In 2020, Paul would join the Phoenix Suns for what would be the most successful stint of his career. In his very first season, Paul would lead the Suns to the NBA Finals but lost to the Milwaukee Bucks. The next two seasons saw the Suns get eliminated in the second round of the playoffs.

Now, Chris Paul finds himself on a new team; the Golden State Warriors. Stephen Curry recently revealed he is excited to play with CP3, calling him one of the greatest point guards of all time. Can Paul win a championship before he retires? Playing in Golden State actually gives him a good chance.
