Of all the major sports in the U.S., basketball is certainly the one that has managed to go global at the fastest rate. It is played almost all over the world now, and going global has led to some of the best players in the NBA coming from overseas.

One of the areas where the game has really become a hit is Tibet and a video of Lamas, Tibetan Buddhist monks, playing the game outside of the Gonba Temple has gone viral.

Fans were very impressed by the monks as they reacted to the viral video.

One felt this was a very high level of basketball being played.

That's a pretty high level of play, and not just in terms of elevation!

All the meditation these monks do helps them focus a fan thinks.

all that meditation helps them focus

One fan hilariously said any of these monks would cook Ben Simmons.

Anyone of them can cook Ben Simmons

A fan admitted these monks have better layups than him.

One fan was so impressed that he wondered if this was a national team playing.

It's more than basic level. These guys play well, good tempo and positioning, blind passes, precise jump shots.. is it a national team ?

It is always great to see basketball being played in different parts of the world and this had to be one of the more impressive displays that we have seen. These monks are clearly quite skilled and they could have had a shot at playing professionally if they received proper training.

Another impressive aspect of what we see in that clip is that they must have been playing at a very high altitude. There was a lot of talk during these playoffs about the altitude in Denver and how teams were struggling to play there.

Bruce Brown spoke about how visiting teams would be gassed when they came over and it was a massive advantage for the Nuggets. Now, imagine having to play in Tibet, a place that is known as the roof of the world for its altitude. It is what makes the way these monks were gliding across the court so impressive, as most of us wouldn’t be able to do that in those conditions.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
