The Miami Heat ‘Barely’ Showed Interest In Bradley Beal

Since the moment that Bradley Beal was first reported to be available on the market, the Miami Heat were quickly tagged as the favorites to sign him. After making the Finals, and falling short against the Nuggets, the Heat seem to be just one piece away from winning the title and Beal could have been the one to get them there.

Of course, as we know now, the Heat did not land Beal, who will now become a member of the Phoenix Suns when the trade is finalized. As many across the NBA question why the Heat refused to outbid Phoenix, league insider John Gambadoro says the team was never that interested anyway.

“I believe that Miami was not that interested in Bradley Beal… If Miami was really involved in this and Beal was interested in going there, there’s no way Miami couldn’t have put a better offer on the table than Phoenix. I’m going to stick with what I’ve been told, and that’s Miami wasn’t that interested in Beal.”

The Miami Heat barely showed interest in Bradley Beal, per @Gambo987

It’s easy to say this after Beal is off the table, but the Wizards didn’t get a whole lot in return for their franchise star. With a haul that includes Chris Paul, Landry Shamet, and a “handful” of second-round picks, Miami could have easily made a better offer if they wanted to.

For whatever reason, they were not motivated to step up with a big offer, and now they will have to look somewhere else in their quest for star talent.

Can The Heat Acquire Damian Lillard?

By all accounts, Blazers superstar Damian Lillard would be a much better fit for Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat, and the team is said to be focused on Lillard now that the Bea trade is complete.

The question is, does Miami have a real chance for Dame, or will they strike out again?

“Miami’s focus is Portland superstar Damian Lillard with the genuine belief this could be the offseason the veteran guard seeks a change of scenery, league sources tell NBA on TNT and Bleacher Report.”

Only time will tell us how this all plays out for the Heat, but you shouldn’t count them out to make a big splash this summer.
