Winning the NBA Finals is the biggest achievement for any player in the NBA. Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets became champions of the league after eliminating the Miami Heat in five games in the 2023 NBA Finals.

Evidently, after the NBA Finals, many congratulated Nikola Jokic for his achievement. During the postgame conference, Jokic opened his phone to check if he had received a congratulatory message from Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic. But instead of finding Djokovic’s message, Jokic was overwhelmed by the sheer number of messages he received on his phone.

“I’m gonna see if he’s texted me, no? I don’t know, I mean, oh mothaf****r,” Jokic said during the postgame conference. “I don’t know, a lot; I’m gonna turn off the phone.”

Novak Djokovic apparently texted Nikola Jokic ahead of the NBA Finals. While Djokovic is a tennis legend, Jokic has a chance to become an NBA legend when he retires from the league.

The common denominator between the two stars is that they are both from Serbia. Keeping that in mind, it’s good to see the brotherhood between them.

Novak Djokovic Believes Nikola Jokic Is The Pride Of Serbia

Nikola Jokic is coming off a postseason where he averaged 30.0 PPG, 13.5 RPG, and 9.5 APG while also recording the most points, rebounds, and assists in the playoffs. It’s evident that Jokic is a generational talent, and he is impacting the NBA in an unseen way.

In a May 2023 interview with ‘Tennis Channel,’ Djokovic wished for Jokic to win the first NBA Championship of his career. The tennis superstar also called Jokic the ‘pride of Serbia.’

“I don’t think anyone can do what he’s doing at the moment,” Djokovic said. “Definitely the best basketball player in the world… He’s the pride of Serbia… We hope he can win his first ring.”

The 23-time Grand Slam winner’s wish came true as Jokic has finally become an NBA champion for the first time in his career. But considering that he’s still 28 years old, it could be the first of many rings of his career.
