Charles Barkley retired from the NBA in 2000. But even after retirement, Barkley has stayed connected with the league as an NBA analyst with Turner Sports.
Chuck can be seen giving his razor-sharp takes about basketball on the ‘Inside the NBA’ show. The Round Mound of Rebound recently branched to ‘NHL on TNT,’ where he talked about his impressive weight loss over the last month or so.
“My doctor told me I was fat. So I’m down 60 pounds,” Barkley said on Face Off. “She said to me, ‘There’s no fat old people, only fat young people.’ And she said, ‘If you don’t get this stuff together, you’re not gonna be around.’”
Chuck added: “Thanks out to my doctor and Mounjaro, the drug I have been taking, love it.”

Charles Barkley credited his doctor and Mounjaro, a drug used along with diet and exercise to help regulate blood sugar in adults, who are diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.
It’s great to see Barkley see back into shape. The Basketball Hall of Famer weighed 350 pounds and is now down to 290 pounds.
Charles Barkley Was Out Of Shape Entering The NBA
Right now, Barkley is 60 years old, so he can afford to get a little bit out of shape. However, the same cannot be said for his rookie season (1984-85).
At the time, Barkley was overweight, and his then-teammate Moses Malone noticed it. Instead of completely belittling him over gaining weight, Malone decided to work with Chuck and helped him lose 50 pounds.
“You have to be in shape for pro sports,” Barkley said. “That’s one thing I tell people. Moses said, ‘Hey, you’re fat and lazy. If you want me to help you, I’ll help you.’ And he said something that changed my life. He says, ‘I don’t even know what your playing weight should be, but let’s just lose 10 pounds.’ This is a guy who was already one of the all-time greats. Starts spending time with me before practice, after practice. I lost 10 pounds, I get to 290.”
Barkley added: “He says, ‘Let’s lose 10 more.’ 280, 270, 260, 250. I got to 240, but I had no strength and energy… I got down to 250. He says, ‘250 is your weight.’ And at this point, I’m starting. And I tell people, if he had told me in the beginning, ‘Let’s lose 50 pounds.’ that probably would have been overwhelming.”
“But he said, ‘Let’s lose 10 pounds.’ Then, like I said, once I got to 250, I was just killing people, and the rest is history,” Barkley concluded.
Losing weight can get overwhelming at times, especially for a rookie. Malone handled the situation carefully, and it helped Barkley find his ideal playing weight.
Since Malone played a crucial role in his life, Barkley wants to do the same for New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson. Zion has a very high ceiling, but he has failed to stay fit in the first four years of his career, playing just 114 games. If Barkley is serious about helping Williamson, he shouldn’t think twice and get the NBA legend’s help.
