Michael Jordan’s impact on the world of sports is felt to this day. While Jordan’s playing career is legendary in its own right, his docuseries ‘The Last Dance’ which focused on his career, created the blueprint for several other athletes and their respective documentaries. One former Manchester United player decided to parody the format for his own mini-documentary.
Former Manchester United and Ireland player John O’Shea recently shared a documentary about his nutmeg on Luis Figo while playing against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. O’Shea dressed in a blue t-shirt just like Michael Jordan did and talked about how his being overlooked was something he took personally, something MJ said numerous times throughout the course of ‘The Last Dance’ docuseries. The mini-documentary released as an ad for Just Eat Ireland is a hilarious spoof of MJ’s legendary docuseries.
Just Eat presents… John O'Shea: The Nutmeg ⚽

O’Shea and several other people featured in the mini-documentary present a satirical take on a very small moment in O’Shea’s career, portraying it as a legendary moment akin to many from Michael Jordan’s incredible career. Several players and journalists shared their experience with the moment and how incredible it was to see the nutmeg take place, especially against such a legendary player like Luis Figo.
O’Shea was successful during his time at Manchester United, but he had nowhere near the impact that Michael Jordan had on the Chicago Bulls or the NBA as a whole. It is clear that the project is not being taken seriously, and is just a fun pastiche of ‘The Last Dance’.
Will There Be Another ‘Last Dance’ Style Project Soon?
It was revealed recently that one of the producers of ‘The Last Dance’ docuseries had been capturing a lot of footage of LeBron James. James, who many consider one of, if not the greatest player of all time, idolized Michael Jordan, even wearing the number 23 for most of his career as a tribute to ‘His Airness’. So a similar documentary about LeBron’s incredible career would be exciting to watch.
The release of a potential LeBron documentary would cause the debate of who is the GOAT to spark up again. The debate over who is the greatest of all time is a divisive debate, with both Jordan and LeBron’s fans vehemently arguing for their favorite player over the other. One thing is for certain, another ‘Last Dance’ style docuseries would be a treat for us basketball fans.
