When Luka Doncic was traded to the Lakers, his honest reaction made it clear that he will forever have a soft spot for Dallas in his heart. He wanted to retire there and never imagined getting traded from the team. Now, after he arrived in LA, his soft spot for Dallas, the city, has still not gone away.

According to sources, Luka Doncic sent a $1,200 GoFundMe donation to the Dallas Texans, a high school soccer team based in Dallas. They had reached $3,800 of their $5,000 target, and suddenly, when their coach Jena Fejeran got an email saying Doncic had donated the difference in their target.

“The whole team came together to try and close the gap so these boys could stay on the field without worrying about the financial burden. We had raised about $3,800 of our $5,000 goal when I suddenly got an email saying our fundraiser had reached its goal. I logged in and saw a $1,200 donation from Luka.”

Doncic, a European by birth, is also very fond of soccer. He played for Real Madrid’s basketball team, which is a sister team to one of the biggest soccer clubs in the world. The biggest soccer stars in the world like Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric share a relationship with Doncic. Therefore, his donation seems to have stemmed not just from his soft spot for Dallas but also from the sport, soccer.

Luka Doncic Gives Back To LA

Ever since Doncic arrived in LA, he has actively been trying to help the community in LA as well. Just days before his trade to the Lakers, a major portion of Los Angeles County in Altadena went through a wildfire and turned to ash. In the wake of this natural disaster, Doncic donated $500,000 to help the victims and rebuild the city.

More recently, in April, there were reports that a Gigi and Kobe Bryant mural was vandalized in LA. Doncic donated $5,000 to help restore that mural.

“It was always important to give back to the community,” Doncic said after practice at the Lakers’ training complex in April. “They gave me so much, so I just want to give back.”

How Much Is Luka Doncic Earning In LA?

According to Forbes, Luka Doncic’s current net worth is $58.5 million. The Mavericks gave Luka Doncic a five-year, $215 million contract that is guaranteed through the 2025–2026 campaign. For the 2026–2027 season, he has a player option.

He earned $43,031,940 for the 2024-25 season with the Lakers and will earn $45,999,660 in the coming 2025-26 season. Being traded from the Mavericks to the Lakers may have cost Doncic over $116 million in income. This is because the trade resulted in the loss of his eligibility for a five-year, $345 million supermax contract with the Mavericks. The Lakers can only offer him a contract of $229 million for a maximum of five years. As of August 2, 2025, he will be able to sign that contract deal with the Lakers.
