Jarred Vanderbilt Got Blasted For Buying $2,000 Clothes For Game 1 Against The Warriors And Then Returning Them The Next Day

The NBA will always be about basketball more than anything else, but other things have become important in the modern era as well. Players need to project a certain image and look good, their sense of style and fashion matters.

The superstars can afford the world’s best designers, but it’s difficult for young or role players. And Jarred Vanderbilt of the Los Angeles Lakers seemingly tried to find a loophole to dress well, leading to him getting called out on social media.

“Nice guy, but… Bought 2K worth of clothes Monday,” an Instagram user wrote. “This outfit specially. Wore it to tunnel and post game Tuesday then returned it yesterday. I wasn’t at the store and someone took the return. Lord knows why… Obviously used clothing. Mayn if I didn’t have a reason to hate the Lakers and root for home turf now I have more reason. Boooooo, ya bum!”

It’s tough to verify if this happened, but the story has been making the rounds on Twitter. While Jarred Vanderbilt isn’t adequately established yet, he is still a millionaire and has a bright future ahead of him. So it’s a little difficult to imagine that he wouldn’t just pay the $2,000 for the outfits and keep them. If he did return them after wearing them, though, that’s not the best look for the Lakers man.

The Los Angeles Lakers Need To Focus On The Ongoing Series Against The Golden State Warriors

Whether this is true or false, the last thing the Los Angeles Lakers need at the moment is a distraction. Having been blown out in Game 2, the team needs to bounce back quickly in Game 3 to defend their newly acquired home-court advantage. Jarred Vanderbilt is shooting poorly this series, and he needs to step up on defense as well, considering that the Warriors scored with impunity in Game 2.

LeBron James has reminded his teammates that things will only get tougher as the playoffs go on, and hopefully, they will take his words to heart. Vanderbilt has impressed greatly since he joined the Lakers, and could be due for a big contract if he can step up and help win this series for the team. Then stories like this, even if they do go viral, will become incredibly hard to believe.
