When he’s healthy, Anthony Davis is one of the best players in the NBA. AD proved that in the Los Angeles Lakers’ Game 1 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Davis recorded 30 points, 23 rebounds, and 5 assists in the stunning victory. After the matchup, Stephen Curry spoke about how tough it is to play against the 30-year-old.

“For sure. It’s also because of how they’re playing us,” Curry said when asked about facing Davis. “They know they want to take away our threes, even though we got 50 of them up. They want to try to put pressure on the perimeter, funnel everything into the paint, and allow him to disrupt a lot and close the space pretty quickly. It’s kind of deceiving. You feel like you have a good look to get it over the top, and he gets a fingertip on it.”

Curry added: “You got to respect it. That’s how he makes an impact on that end of the floor, and you can’t be stubborn, thinking you can just keep going in there. You still got to be able to drive and put pressure on the rim, but you can do it in a creative way. So, yes, you got to feel it because it’s impactful.”

Stephen Curry admitted the value that Anthony Davis holds for the Los Angeles Lakers on the defensive end of the floor.

Davis had 4 blocks to his name in the opening game of the series. Couple that with 19 defensive rebounds, Davis was simply unstoppable.

Stephen Curry And The Warriors Almost Made a Comeback vs. The Lakers

Led by Stephen Curry, the Warriors almost completed a comeback in the fourth quarter of the game.

With 5:12 seconds left on the clock, the score stood at 112-98 in favor of the Lakers. But then the Warriors went on a 14-0 run and tied the score.

The Lakers took a 115-112 lead again, but Jordan Poole was provided with an opportunity to level things up. Poole bricked a wide-open three-point shot. Following it, the Lakers sealed the deal.

Poole’s open-look three-point attempt drew a dejected reaction from Stephen Curry. Had he tied the game at 115-115, it could have gone either way. The Dubs will hope to make a comeback in Game 2 and tie the series at 1-1.
