It is no secret that Draymond Green and LeBron James are great friends, and we have frequently seen the two hand out and shout out one another on social media. In fact, at one point, it seem as though Green was willing to miss one of the Golden State Warriors’ games to go see James break the all-time scoring record.

A recent report by Marc Spears of Andscape shared Draymond Green’s recollection of that situation, with the forward reportedly asking the Warriors to miss a game against the Portland Trail Blazers to go watch his friend become the all-time leading scorer.

“Yeah, I was definitely going. It was a TNT game. I was doing the broadcast and Steve said, ‘I don’t think that’ll be great for our team. While we’re flying out on the road, you’re flying to LA, guys see that, guys see you on the TV calling the game. This is a big game for us against Portland.’ I said, ‘All right, respect. No problem. I’ll be there with my team.’

“I flew to Portland, we got to get a win and we’re here. So, it definitely was something that I wanted to be present for. It was just such a big moment in life and friendship. But there will be other big moments and we’ll create great memories.”

There’s no doubt that it is understandable why Draymond Green wanted to go support his friend for a historic occasion. However, ultimately, it was also important for him to be with his teammates and get a crucial win, and it is clear.

Draymond Green Believes There Might Never Be A Better Face Of The League Than LeBron James

There is no question that Draymond Green has a lot of respect for LeBron James. In fact, once, he claimed that there might never be a better face of the league than the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

“I still say, and I stand by this, with 20 years in to still be competing at the same level, obviously it’s not the exact same when he was 22 or 26 or 30 or whatever. But to be competing at such a high level in year 20, that has to count for something. Has to count for something.

“To be playing basketball in this era is absolutely insane, and again I take my hat off to LeBron for what he’s done, for what he’s doing on and off the court. There’s never been a better face of the NBA and I’m not sure there ever will be a better face of the NBA. Absolutely amazing. Salute my brother.”

It is true that LeBron James has represented the league very well throughout his career. He has never had any sort of scandal and has been an upstanding role model for the younger generation. Hopefully, the next face of the league can do something similar, but it is definitely hard to top the standard set by LeBron James.
