The Los Angeles Lakers have blown away the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 6 of their first-round series.

The Grizzlies have been talking trash all series and really the whole season, so Anthony Davis ruthlessly mocked them with the Lakers being up 91-59.

“Ain’t no fun when the rabbit got the gun.”

When you talk as much trash as the Grizzlies have, you better back it up, or else you’re going to have egg on your face. Ja Morant had said he was fine in the West earlier this season and to then capitulate the way they have in Game 6 is embarrassing. Dillon Brooks had also taken shots at LeBron James after a win in Game 2 but he has been absolutely woeful on the court since then.

Brooks even refused to talk to the media after losing Games 3 and 4, with Morant also not speaking after the loss in Game 4. Richard Jefferson blasted them for it as he stated it was cowardice on their part. Maybe this hammering at the hands of the Lakers will humble the Grizzlies a little bit but that remains to be seen.

Anthony Davis Has Crushed The Grizzlies On Defense In This Series

Davis hasn’t quite been at his dominant best offensively in this series but he has been outstanding on defense. He finished the series with averages of 20.8 PPG, 13.7 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.3 SPG, and 4.3 BPG. Davis was on the court with Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr. here but anyone watching the series would tell you AD was by far the best defender in the series.

There have been a lot of question marks surrounding Davis in these last couple of years and while you’d like to see more from him on offense, his defense was otherworldly here. If he can up his offensive production against either the Sacramento Kings or the Golden State Warriors in the next round, you would really fancy the Lakers’ chances against both those teams.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
