Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks’ season is over after losing to the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs.

Following the shocking defeat, many are wondering what’s next for Giannis. Damian Lillard seemingly wants to see the Greek Freak join the Portland Trail Blazers. No, we aren’t making this up; Dame recently retweeted an image featuring him and Antetokounmpo wearing the Trail Blazers’ jersey.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the most loyal players in the NBA right now. He has spent his entire career with the Milwaukee Bucks and has been a crucial part of the franchise in its highs and lows.

So, it’s highly unlikely that Giannis will leave the Bucks this summer, even after an early exit from the postseason. But that didn’t stop Damian Lillard from subtly trying to recruit him to the Trail Blazers.

Considering Lillard needs urgent help to have a meaningful season with the Trail Blazers, we can’t blame him for trying.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Doesn’t Think The Milwaukee Bucks’ 2022-23 NBA Season Was A Failure

The Milwaukee Bucks finished the regular season with a league-best 58-24 record. They obviously clinched the first seed in the Eastern Conference and were one of the favorites to win it all this season.

However, their dreams were shattered by Jimmy Butler’s insane performances in the series. Even after that, during the postgame conference, Giannis Antetokounmpo denied that the Bucks’ season was a failure. He used the example of Michael Jordan to back his claim.

“Oh, my God. You asked me the same question last year, Eric. Do you get a promotion every year on your job? No, right? So every year when you work, it’s a failure? No. Every year you work towards a goal, which is to get a promotion and take care of your family… It’s not a failure, there are steps to success… Michael Jordan played 15 years and won 6 championships. The other nine years were a failure? That’s what you’re telling me?

“Exactly, so why ask me that question? It’s the wrong question. There’s no failure in sports. There are good days and bad days, some days you’re able to be successful, and some days you’re not. Some days it’s your turn, some days, it’s not your turn. That’s what sports is about, you don’t always win.”

While what Giannis said was essentially true, fans had huge expectations from the Bucks. Considering those expectations weren’t fulfilled, this season will remain a failure for them.

To put things into perspective, the Bucks are only the sixth team in NBA history to lose a playoff series in the first round as the number one seed. Keeping that in mind, yes, it was indeed a disappointing season.
