Richard Jefferson didn’t hold back when he called out Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks for not addressing the media in the aftermath of their Game 4 loss against the Los Angeles Lakers.

“You can’t talk the talk and then not walk the walk,” Jefferson said on NBA on ESPN. “If you’re not going to talk to the media after two straight games, that to me is cowardice. And I don’t believe either of them are cowards.”

He further added: “When you struggle, that’s when you show your true character. After talking the talk, you can’t avoid the media.”

Brooks declined to talk to the media for the second game in a row. Earlier, ESPN’s Tim MacMahon tweeted that the guard had a curt reply to the media saying, “I’m out,” while Morant skipped the media availability later on.

While it is understandable that the Grizzlies are under immense pressure to win, and the apparent frustration is out there to see, these players could do well to understand what it is to be sporting about the competition.

Dillon Brooks Might Not Be Part Of The Memphis Grizzlies In The Near Future

His on-court antics aside, it’s unlikely that Dillon Brooks might suit up with the Grizzlies for the next season. Earlier, MacMahon shed light on his future in Memphis.

“They’ve tried to move on from Dillon Brooks already… I don’t know if Dillon Brooks is on this team after this series,” the ESPN analyst told on The Hoop Collective.

“They threw four picks at the Nets trying to get Mikal Bridges. They really weren’t able to get the Raptors in serious conversations, but they would have given up a few picks to get OG Anunoby. They’ve tried to move on from Dillon Brooks already.”

It does make sense if the side would want to ship Brooks off for perhaps better upgrades on the offensive end. For now, he’s been all about the league’s bad boy image, but his performances have nose-dived, making it all the easier for the unit to move on without him.
