Dillon Brooks’ future with the Memphis Grizzlies received a concerning update from NBA insider, Tim MacMahon
“They’ve tried to move on from Dillon Brooks already… I don’t know if Dillon Brooks is on this team after this series,” the ESPN analyst told on The Hoop Collective.
“They threw four picks at the Nets trying to get Mikal Bridges. They really weren’t able to get the Raptors in serious conversations, but they would have given up a few picks to get OG Anunoby. They’ve tried to move on from Dillon Brooks already.”
These comments are on the back of the fact that the guard will be a free agent this summer, and his liabilities on offense will be one of the factors the Grizzlies will be looking at. The ongoing season has him averaging 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists.
While he is a formidable defensive presence, his floor spacing and questionable shot selection have been an issue as well. With the team lacking offensive firepower, MacMahon believes that Memphis might look at offense upgrades, even if that would mean shipping Brooks away in the summer.
Dillon Brooks Claimed The Media And The Fans Painted Him As a Villain
There were surely fireworks expected when the Los Angeles Lakers booked a first-round playoff date with the Memphis Grizzlies, and Dillon Brooks would always be at the center of it.
And it happened just as expected with the guard getting into LeBron James’ face and trash-talking game earlier in the series. The back-and-forth even led to the former’s suspension after he kicked James in the groin.
“The media making me a villain, the fans making me a villain, that just creates another persona on me,” he said, via MacMahon.
On his part, James was not overly concerned about Brooks’ trash-talking him. “No, at the end of the day I think my resume and what I’ve done for this league speak for itself,” the four-time NBA champion said. “I don’t really get caught up in any comments like that.”
Brooks’ future with the Grizzlies might be undecided for now, but the team and the fiery guard will be keen on evening up the series, especially after letting the Lakers take a 2-1 lead. Only time will tell if Brooks can keep his head cool and lock up LA’s offensive unit.
