Point guard Ja Morant is one of the young ascending superstars in the league, and there’s no doubt that he has a case to be a top 10 player. Even though the Memphis Grizzlies lost to the Los Angeles Lakers today, Ja Morant put everything out on the floor.

In Game 3, Ja Morant scored 45 points and got 13 assists, and it is clear that did his best to give his team a chance to win the game. Ultimately, even though the Memphis Grizzlies lost, many were impressed with Ja Morant’s performance. One fan praised him for trying hard during the game despite the Grizzlies starting off by only scoring 9 points in the first quarter. Another claimed he gave everything he could.

he had such a good night man he really put the team on his back to comeback from a 38-9 deficit

Respect for fighting till the very end to JA. He gave it everything. He now 0-2 in the playoffs against the lakers. His team is 1-2

Some jokingly compared Morant to prime LeBron James:

Others were in awe of him scoring 22 points in a row in the fourth quarter:

One person even believes that Ja Morant is the best player in this series:

Best player in this series, sadly he has no help

There is no doubt that Ja Morant gained a lot of respect from opposing fans due to his performance. The Memphis Grizzlies will need him to continue giving them a lot of offense, and their system clearly relies on him to fire on all cylinders.

Thus far in the playoffs, Ja Morant has averaged 31.5 PPG, 7.5 RPG, and 7.5 APG for the Memphis Grizzlies. He is showing that he is among the best of the best, and if he manages to lead the Grizzlies to a win against the Lakers, many detractors will start to view him in a different light.

Colin Cowherd Believes Memphis Grizzlies Are Better Without Ja Morant

Even though Ja Morant is clearly a fantastic player, he has his detractors. In fact, Colin Cowherd previously claimed that the Memphis Grizzlies are better without the presence of Ja Morant.

“All five Memphis starters scored in double figures. Why? Because they weren’t sitting around staring at Ja,” said Colin. “Talent and value are two different things. If you look at the last two seasons, including the playoffs, the Grizzlies statistically with Ja and without him: they win a little more, they are much better defensively, their net rating is double. They are a better team without him, sorry fanboys. He’s not a great basketball player overall. He’s a great scorer.”

There is no doubt that this is a wild take. From these playoffs, it is clear that the Memphis Grizzlies simply don’t have enough offense to win without Ja Morant, and ultimately, he is the player that will be key to them winning a championship.
