One of LeBron’s biggest rivals right now has to be Dillon Brooks and the Memphis Grizzlies. Besides being a trash talker on a rising contender in the West, Brooks makes it a point to get under LeBron’s skin, and this series has given him the perfect opportunity to do so.

But as you can imagine, it wasn’t always that way for Brooks. As fans on Twitter discovered recently, the Grizzlies swingman was once rooting for LeBron and even wrote a celebratory tweet when LeBron won his first championship.

This isn’t incriminating evidence against Brooks or anything like that, but it shows that the guy is more about playing a role for his team than actually disliking LeBron James.

Surprisingly, despite how annoying he can be, Brooks is pretty effective at what he does as a spark plug and lead perimeter defender for the group, So when he’s not guarding the team’s best player on the court, he’s trying his best to get in their heads when he’s in front of the cameras.

“I don’t care, he’s old. I was waiting for that, I was expecting him to do that Game 4 or Game 5,” said Brooks. “He wanted to say something when I got my 4th foul, he didn’t say nothing early on. But you know, I poke bears. I don’t respect no one until they come in and give me 40. So, I pride myself on defense and taking on any challenge.”

Can Grizzlies Win The Series Without Morant?

We don’t yet know how much time Ja will miss as he deals with his hand injury, but the Grizzlies are more than capable of holding done the fort until he gets back. As we saw on Wednesday, the Grizzlies have plenty of guys that can step up, from Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane, and of course, Dillon Brooks himself.

To get a win in Los Angeles, however, the Grizzlies will need maximum production from everyone.

“Looking forward to it, wish we could play tomorrow,” warned Davis after the loss in Game 2. “I’ll be ready for Game 3 for sure.”

Only time will tell who comes out on top, but this is sure to be a great series based on what we’ve seen the past two games and Brooks has really played a big role in making it even more interesting as we wait to see how James will respond.
