The NBA surprised a lot of people with their decision to suspend Draymond Green for stepping on the chest of Domantas Sabonis in Game 2’s loss to the Kings. While the NBA and league executive Joe Dumars has been very clear about the reasoning behind the suspension, many fans and analysts disagree about the punishment handed down.

Among that crowd is Clippers star Paul George, who defended Draymond on his podcast by drawing attention to Sabonis grabbing his foot.

“Unfair, bro. Unfair. Like what do you want him to do? If somebody’s holding your ankle and you’re trying to jump over them and you’re off-balance like… He could’ve fucked his leg up with that.”

If you go back and look at the play, it’s pretty clear that Domantas was holding Green’s leg, and it may even be what caused the initial contact on the ground. Of course, that was no excuse for Green to stomp on the guy straight in the chest, and it goes without saying that he should have known better.

Now, the Dubs will have no choice but to move on without him and hope that this ordeal motivates the whole team to have the best game of the season.

Is This The Last Stand For The Warriors?

No matter what happens on Thursday, the Warriors cannot be counted out completely as long as they have Steph and Klay on the court.

With Draymond’s suspension likely to light a fire in the locker room, the Dubs will be playing with ridiculous energy and desperation. Hopefully, they can at least win tonight and give themselves a chance to advance when Draymond returns.

“I’ve said many times we don’t have a single championship without Draymond Green. That’s the truth. He’s crossed the line over the years, and that’s part of it, you know. We will go to bat for Draymond, and go to battle with him every day of the week.”

If the Warriors can just stay whole and win at least one game on the road, they can go toe-to-toe against any team in the West. Sadly, they’ve struggled in those areas all season long, and now when they need him most, not even Draymond will be there to help stop the bleeding.
