LeBron James has faced many antagonizers over his 20-year career, and Dillon Brooks is just the latest of a long line of them to stand in his way.

But after making some comments about James being ‘old’ some fans think he’s gone way too far in his latest attempts to get under LeBron’s skin. Speaking on ESPN’s ‘NBA Today,’ Kendrick Perkins even said that Brooks would come to regret talking trash to No. 6.

“I love it, but he didn’t poke the bear. He poured honey on him. That bear is coming, that bear is LeBron James. … He didn’t poke the bear, he poured honey on himself. LeBron James is on his way.”

LeBron isn’t likely to give much thought to Brooks’ words, but an angry LeBron is the last thing the Grizzlies need to deal with right now, given the injuries to Ja Morant, Steven Adams, and Brandon Clarke.

But if the Lakers aren’t careful, they may slip up and end up losing to this feisty Grizzlies squad — with or without Morant.

Lakers Need To Defend Homecourt After Dropping Game 2

The Lakers missed an opportunity to take full control against the Grizzlies heading into Los Angeles, but now they’ll have to win these next two games if they want to keep the momentum in their favor.

“At the end of the day, we all understand what a series is all about,” said James. “It’s not the first to one win or two, it’s the first to four. Every game is its own entity and you have to prepare for that challenge. We were prepared tonight we just didn’t execute as well as we did in Game 1. They made adjustments, and we made adjustments, but you tip your hat to them. They played a hell of a game tonight.”

Dillon Brooks has been great for the Grizzlies, and part of what he brings is a certain type of energy and confidence that elevate the entire team. His presence no doubt helped them secure the win without Morant in Game 2, and it could help them win more games down the road.

But Brooks might learn the hard way that it’s never a good idea to trash-talk LeBron. And if the Grizzlies end up losing this series, he may come to regret some of the stuff he’s been saying over the past few days.
