Tristan Thompson’s return to the NBA hasn’t been met with many good comments. While the Los Angeles Lakers think he’s a good addition for the 2023 playoffs, others don’t think he has what it takes to get another shot in the league.

For instance, one anonymous player called Thompson the most overrated player in the association, claiming that he’s been in the league for that long simply because he played with LeBron James.

“Someone like him has made a whole career out of playing with LeBron.” — a player who voted for Tristan Thompson told The Athletic.

In a poll that had Trae Young as the most overrated player in the league, somebody didn’t forget about Thompson and took a big shot at the 2016 NBA champion. The irony is that he’s now on a team with LeBron James.

Still, some think he can be good for the Purple and Gold, and even Lamar Odom labeled him a good pick for the Lakers, who are trying to win the 2023 NBA championship after a tumultuous start to the season.

Los Angeles Lakers Signed Tristan Thompson Over DeMarcus Cousins Ahead Of NBA Playoffs

The Lakers must feel the same about Thompson since they had to pick between him and DeMarcus Cousins. These are two good veterans who can provide good things to the Lakers off the bench, but only one of them got the call and the contract.

After a terrific Game 1 on Sunday, the Lakers are now leading their first-round playoffs series against the Memphis Grizzlies. They will try to steal Game 2 tonight and head back to Los Angeles with a huge advantage. However, the Grizzlies will try to hit back and level things up before Game 3.

Thompson will be waiting for an opportunity to help his team, but it seems like the Lakers are just fine right now.
