The NBA and NBPA recently agreed on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, and a lot of the players weren’t happy with it.
Draymond Green was one of the more vocal critics, and Grant Williams, the First Vice President of the NBPA, told Sam Yip from HoopsHype that Green doesn’t know all the information yet.
“Yeah, I don’t think that he fully understood the actual breakdown,” Williams said. “And I think as the details start to come out more and more, he’ll have a better understanding. He read it off of statements that weren’t fully put out yet, and still even the full CBA hasn’t been released yet. So I think as time goes on, he’ll realize that the statement that he made may not have been factual. He’ll have a better understanding and a better feeling about the CBA that’s coming out.”
Green had stated on his podcast that the Warriors will be the last dynasty in the NBA due to the new salary cap rules. The new rules in place deter teams from spending big like the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers have done in recent years. Draymond felt that the players had lost yet again with this CBA, but Williams wants him to wait till all the details are out.
The New CBA Doesn’t Allow High School Players To Enter The NBA Directly
One of the big changes expected in this new CBA was that high school players would be able to enter the NBA directly, but it didn’t happen. They will either have to spend a year in college or play professionally elsewhere, whether it is in the G League or overseas.
When the news first broke that there won’t be any change, fans were outraged and were critical of the league. A report has now come out which claims that some veteran players expressed concern about high school players coming in and taking their spots on rosters. The report also stated that with the NIL now in place, the league doesn’t feel as much pressure to let high school players enter directly.
