The Los Angeles Clippers are flying high after a strong win over the Los Angeles Lakers last night.

Russell Westbrook got to face off against the team that traded him in the winter and reportedly referred to him as a vampire in the locker room. Ivica Zubac defended Westbrook after the win.

“It’s not about individual stuff but we knew what was said about him and when he came over here, it’s the complete opposite of who he is. He’s a great dude. Great leader. Always happy, always positive, and helping everyone on the court, helped me a lot. The way he leads us on and off the court, he’s a great dude. We just wanted to prove everyone wrong, all those rumors that stuff that was said about him.”

Zubac and Westbrook have linked really well on the court, going to show Russ can have success with most bigs that are willing to get dirty in the paint. This win brought them closer to securing a top-six seed, something they can solidify if they win any of their next 2 games.

The Los Angeles Clippers Almost Out Of Play-In Purgatory

The Clippers have failed to create separation from the chasing pack of teams behind them since the start of the season. They’ve found a nice rhythm of form recently and have been a solid 3-2 in their last 5 games.

The Clippers are tied with the Warriors for the 5th seed but have the tiebreaker over GS. For Golden State to overtake them, they simply have to win one more game than the Clippers in both teams’ final two contests. The Lakers are a game behind both and can’t pass the Clippers unless they lose both their remaining games and the Lakers win their remaining games.

The Clippers united behind Westbrook and fought to beat the Lakers for him. Now, they need to keep that energy going and take it into the playoffs to make a possible run.
