Russell Westbrook played against the Los Angeles Lakers for the first time since getting traded from the team.

It was a happy day for Brodie as he helped the Clippers register an easy win for the Clippers over the Lakers. Following the victory, Bones Hyland shared that over the last two days, wanting to beat the Lakers for Russell Westbrook.

“We’ve been telling Russ that for the past two days,” Hyland said. “‘Russ, we’ll match your energy. We got your back. And we’re gonna come out with this win.’ We got each other’s backs.”

Russell Westbrook has played just 19 games with the Los Angeles Clippers, but it seems he has already built better chemistry with them than he could with his Los Angeles Lakers teammates.

In the stunning victory, Westbrook recorded 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists while playing just 21 minutes.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ Game Plan For Russell Westbrook Backfired

Considering Westbrook played with the Lakers for a season and a half, the Purple and Gold were expected to have a great game plan to contain him.

After the game, Anthony Davis admitted that the Lakers wanted Russ to shoot and obviously miss those open looks. However, the plan backfired as Westbrook shot 6-12 from the field, including 2-4 from the three-point line.

“Our game plan was for him to shoot the ball. And he made them. He made the shots.”

It was certainly an underwhelming plan by rookie head coach Darvin Ham. Westbrook’s 14 points proved to be a difference-maker as the Los Angeles Lakers fell to a 41-39 record and are currently the seventh seed in the Western Conference.

Fans will hope for the team to bounce back during their game against the Phoenix Suns on Friday night as LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the rest of the Lakers will get a couple of days’ rest.
