The Los Angeles Lakers fell short against the New York Knicks in their most recent matchup in the NBA. In the absence of LeBron James, the Lakers were outplayed 108-112 by the Knicks, led by a brilliant performance by Julius Randle.

As for the Lakers, it was a tough loss, but there was a clear reason behind the defeat, and it was Anthony Davis’ lackluster performance. Following the game, Dennis Schroder talked about Davis’ struggles and showed full support for his superstar teammate.

“Yeah, I mean, it’s everybody. It’s everybody in this locker room. I mean, I can say the same thing,” Schroder said. “When I came in, I had two quick turnovers. It’s on everybody. And when we lose, we lose as a team. If we win, we win as a team. But AD, he tries to be great at all times, and he’d been, I mean, 90% of the time, great for us. And I mean that you miss free throws there. I mean, that happens. We’re all humans. And we can’t control if a shot goes in. But everything else, defensively, he did a great job still. Even in the second half on Julius Randle. So, he can’t put it on himself.”

Anthony Davis finished the game with 17 points, 16 rebounds, and 4 assists to his name. His numbers weren’t such a huge issue, it was his poor shooting that led to the Lakers’ defeat.

Davis was 8-18 from the field, including 0-1 from the three-point line. On top of that, Davis shot just 1-5 from the free-throw line as well.

Anthony Davis Took Responsibility For The Lakers’ Loss Against The Knicks

With LeBron James not close to returning, the Los Angeles Lakers have given Anthony Davis the full responsibility of leading the team to victories. Davis has fulfilled that responsibility for the most part but couldn’t do so against the Knicks.

However, Davis didn’t make any excuses for his shortcomings against the Knicks whatsoever. He took full responsibility for the defeat at such a crucial point in the season.

It’s good to see Anthony Davis being a leader for the Lakers and showing accountability for his mistakes. The Lakers will face the 12th-seeded New Orleans Pelicans next, and Davis will have an opportunity to help the Lakers improve their current 33-35 record.
