The Los Angeles Lakers have recently lost to the Boston Celtics in overtime. Though this was obviously a disappointing outcome for Lakers fans, it was also notable because of a huge missed call on LeBron James that could have given them the win against their rivals.

It seems as though that missed call is not the only instance of bad officiating in recent Lakers’ games. An Instagram post from the page showed multiple crucial missed calls on the Los Angeles Lakers over the course of the last two weeks. A lot of fans reacted to the post, with many believing that the league is unfairly targeting the Lakers.

A post shared by Lakers All Day Everyday (@lakersalldayeveryday)

the craziest part is every single one of these were in the last play of the game where the lakers would get possession

NBA not doing something against referees is totally unacceptable

THIS ISNT INCIDENTAL OR A ACCIDENT… IT KEEPS HAPPENING

LA VS THE WORLD

Lakers would be 27-23 rn instead of 23-27

they jus dont wanna see the Lakers in the playoffs

league needs a form of accountability for these refs, whether it be fines or something else.

In a 2 week span is the craziest part. Missing calls gonna happen but it’s basically been every close game. It’s to the point that it legitimately seems rigged

Seriously, fine or fire these refs for purposely giving games away

Horrible especially when we need all the wins we can get we get bullshitted like we’re fucking 40-6 or something

Not to mention when Troy Brown got smacked on a 3!

Boycott until they correct this‼️

It’s insane has any team in the NBA history faced this much unfairness before

They dont want us to get 18

Let’s protest bro

Though a lot of Lakers fans may be angry at the referees, they are humans and make mistakes. Other teams have also had crucial missed calls against them this season, and unfortunately, that is part of the game right now. Hopefully, we see better officiating going forward.

The Referees Have Already Admitted Their Mistake On The LeBron James Call

The video replay clearly showed Jayson Tatum making contact with LeBron James on the controversial play, and it seems as though the referees are aware of their mistake. The NBA Referees Twitter account has recently made a statement about the call, admitting that the play “will weigh heavily” on them.

Like everyone else, referees make mistakes. We made one at the end of last night’s game and that is gut-wrenching for us. This play will weigh heavily and cause sleepless nights as we strive to be the best referees we can be.

Hopefully, this missed call doesn’t end up affecting the Los Angeles Lakers making the playoffs. They are clearly a team that needs every win they can get, as the Western Conference is absolutely unpredictable as of right now.

What is clear is that the league needs to figure out a way to avoid these incidents in the future. Fans are clearly unhappy about this matter, and we’ll see if the NBA addresses this situation with the referees going forward.
